12 Years of Soybeans

The 2021 growing season marked 12 years of soybeans – the 12th year of Burrus Seed offering soybean seed in their product lineup. From our beginning in 1935 until 2008 our sole focus was on corn hybrids. Today, soybean sales make up a significant part of our business. We proudly offer growers a high performance variety selection to add value to their operations.

Over the course of 12 years, we have offered soybeans in five different brands with 6 different trait platforms. We strive to always provide growers the choice they deserve. Success comes from selecting products best fit for each acre and management style. It’s important to us to be transparent that yield is driven by a soybean’s genetics and protected by the trait.

For 2022, we have an outstanding lineup Enlist E3®, XtendFlex® and conventional varieties ranging from 2.0 to 4.6 RM. Contact your Burrus Representative to find the best fit Burrus and DONMARIO™ soybeans for you.

Here’s a quick look at the history of soybeans at Burrus Seed:

2009 – Hoblit Seed Acquired

By acquiring Hoblit Seed in 2009, Burrus Seed was able to offer soybeans for the first time in their history. The very successful soybean program of Hoblit was made available to Burrus growers in a limited, 11-county area the first year. The 12 variety lineup of Roundup Ready soybeans ranging in maturity from 2.9 to 4.2 marked the start of an exciting new part of the Burrus business.

2018 – DONMARIO Brand Launch

Burrus announced the launch of DONMARIO brand soybeans in the US. Partnering with another family owned business who shared our morals and industry mindset was a great fit. DONMARIO was already a high-yielding soybean genetics authority with significant market share in six countries. In the years since, DONMARIO has only continued to grow and the success of their products has been well received by Burrus growers.

2019 – Enlist E3® Soybeans Available

After a long wait, Enlist E3 soybeans received full market approval and the trait entered the industry with a bang. The extended herbicide tolerance allowed growers a new tool in the battle against resistant weeds. Our Enlist E3 soybeans continue to offer defense with outstanding yield. Check out our Enlist E3 lineup for 2022.

2019 was also the first commercial crop of DONMARIO soybeans in the US. These beans made a splash in their debut – to say their performance was outstanding would be an understatement.
