"These traits make independently-owned seed companies unique. This award is a very small way for IPSA to recognize Tom’s significant commitment and efforts on behalf of his peers across the country."

For corn growers, the Burrus name has been synonymous with performance, value, and cutting-edge technologies since 1935. Today, Burrus Hybrids remains an independent, farm-family owned company providing seed corn and soybeans to growers across Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Indiana.

Burrus was recognized for his service to agriculture and to IPSA. He is a two-term board member and past president of the association.

Burrus Hybrids purchased Hoblit Seed Company in 2008 and created a strategic alliance with Hughes Hybrids in 2010 to further strengthen the Burrus core strategy as the premier source of quality seed corn and soybeans. For the 76th consecutive season, Burrus offers 100% free replant to guarantee customers a growing start.

IPSA addresses research and biotechnology issues while representing approximately 90 seed companies from 20 states and Canada that produce and market a significant portion of the corn, soybeans, small grain, and forage seeds planted annually. http://www.independentseeds.com
